Hi! I'm Maryam Hedayati, and I'm a PhD candidate in Computer Science and Learning Sciences at Northwestern University. I work with Matthew Kay in the MU Collective lab, and my current research primarily focuses on trying to better understand visualization literacy. I'm very interested in teaching -- I have TAed as frequently as possible, helped to create a training program for Northwestern TAs, was the first participant in the Northwestern CS teaching training program, and helped run the first iteration of the CS research track program. I also volunteer for organizations such as We All Code, and am always on the lookout for more ways to introduce people to computer science.
Before coming to Northwestern, I received a B.A. from Carleton College in computer science and psychology, where I was a member of the Carleton Perception Lab. I also spent some time working as a tech consultant at Pariveda Solutions in New York, and was a staff member on two iterations of a computer science study abroad program in the UK. Outside of work, I enjoy watching musicals, sending postcards, drinking tea, sewing, and hanging out with my cat.
